Emily Mirla Harrison is a pianist, early-career screen composer, and Neoclassical recording artist Mirla.
Her signature piano-driven scores blend fragile string arrangements with subtle, ambient soundscapes and deft instrumentation to evoke emotional responses and elevate stories.
As an exponent of the 'neoclassical' approach, Emily's compositions are gracefully sculpted in rich and sweeping melancholic tones, which slip and slide betwixt the characters, dialogue, dramatic devices and visual cues.
Achieving a Graduate Certificate in Screen Music (Distinction) from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (2017), Emily completed an internship at the acclaimed Church Street Studios, mentored by award winning composer Guy Gross.
Harrison was awarded the JD Music Prize in 2018 to create her solo work ‘Solitaire (The Virtue of Patience). The lead single ‘In Search of Lost Time’ was shortlisted for ‘Made By’ the OneMusic/Royal Academy of Dance Composition to Choreography competition.
In 2021, Harrison was a finalist in the APRA Professional Development Awards for Film, Television & Gaming.
Producers and Directors seeking music scores for new projects are encouraged to Listen to portfolio samples and get in touch.
